BM1000/2000/5000 Blow Molding Machine

The BM1000, BM2000, and BM5000 series are industrial-grade accumulator blow molding machines designed by Jwell for large hollow products, with maximum product volumes ranging from 500L to 5000L. They are widely used in chemical drums, IBC containers, large water storage tanks, automotive fuel tanks, municipal waste bins, and customized industrial components.

  • Application

The BM series is specifically designed for large blow molding products, with maximum product volumes from 500L to 5000L.

Real-world case: A chemical logistics company uses the BM2000 (max volume 1000L, clamping force 1800KN, plasticizing capacity 700 kg/h) with a 132kW*2 screw configuration, producing 8 IBC containers per hour. The 4000KN clamping force on the BM5000 ensures flash-free molding even on extra-large 5000L molds (max mold size: 1800*5200mm).

  • Advantages

A. Twin-screw configuration for high output
BM1000: 120/135mm main screw, 400 kg/h (PE) – suitable for medium-to-high output.
BM2000: 120mm*2 twin screw, 700 kg/h – balance between output and redundancy.
BM5000: 120/32*2 screw, 800-900 kg/h plasticizing capacity – top configuration for large parts.
B. Large mold and platen capacity
Max mold size (BM5000): 1800*5200mm – suitable for extra-long industrial components.
Platen size (BM5000): 1960*5000mm – uniform load distribution, reduced wear.
C. Energy-saving servo-hydraulic system
All three models use servo-driven hydraulic pump motors:
BM1000/2000: 45 kW servo
BM5000: 45kW*2 servo
Energy savings of 30-50% during idle/holding phases compared to conventional fixed-displacement pumps.
D. High clamping force for flash-free molding
BM1000: 1300 KN
BM2000: 1800 KN
BM5000: 4000 KN
The BM5000’s clamping force is nearly three times that of the BM1000, which is critical for large 5000L parts.

  • Process

Each BM machine undergoes a 5-stage QC protocol before shipment:

Stage 1 – Raw material and component inspection
Main screw material (38CrMoAlA) tested for hardness and nitriding depth.
Servo motors and hydraulic pumps tested for rated power (132kW*2, etc.) and insulation performance.

Stage 2 – No-load cycle test
BM1000: 250 pc/h
BM2000: 155 pc/h
BM5000: 150 pc/h
The machine runs empty for 8 hours. Deviation >±3% requires recalibration of the toggle system.

Stage 3 – Plasticizing capacity test (PE material)
Actual PE pellets are used. Measure whether the output meets the nominal kg/h (e.g., BM5000 must achieve 850±50 kg/h).
Melt uniformity is checked via purging test – verifying screw design.

Stage 4 – Clamping force and mold alignment
Clamping force measured with strain gauges (target: BM5000 ≥ 3900 KN).
Mold parallelism checked – maximum allowable 0.1mm/m over 5200mm mold length.

Stage 5 – Accumulator and hydraulic leakage test
Accumulator capacity: BM1000 (45/60L), BM2000 (75/90L), BM5000 (120L).
Pressure held at 1.25× rated value for 2 hours. No pressure drop allowed.
Real-world case: Before shipping a BM2000 to a Middle Eastern customer, we performed a 72-hour continuous production test producing 1000L IBC drums at 155 cycles/hour, with wall thickness deviation less than 0.15mm.

  • Q&A

Q1: What is the actual average power consumption, not just installed power?
BM1000: Installed 265–325 kW → Actual average approx. 180–220 kW (servo saves energy during holding/cooling).
BM2000: Installed 460 kW → Actual approx. 300–340 kW.
BM5000: Installed 480 kW → Actual approx. 350–400 kW (dual servo sharing the load).

Q2: Can the BM5000’s 4000KN clamping force really handle 5000L products?
Yes. The 4000KN clamping force, combined with a platen opening range of 1200-4000mm and max mold size of 1800*5200mm, allows for deep-drawn, wide-bodied containers. For 5000L products, we recommend using high-flow PE and adding a mold support bracket.

Q3: How often do the main screws need to be replaced?
Under normal PE/PP usage (8000 hours/year, ≤900 kg/h on BM5000), the bimetallic screw life is 25,000–30,000 hours. We recommend annual wear measurement.

Q4: What is the footprint of a BM2000 production line?
Machine dimensions: 14m (L) × 12m (W) × 8.5m (H). Add 3m for the feeding system and 2m for the take-out and conveyor unit. Minimum workshop requirement: 18m × 14m × 9m.

Q5: Can I change mold sizes quickly?
Yes. The adjustable platen opening range (e.g., BM2000: 1000–2700mm) and an optional quick mold change system allow mold changeover from 500L to 1000L products within 90 minutes.

Q6: How is the head heating power managed?
BM1000: 50 kW head heating power
BM2000: 65 kW
BM5000: 100 kW
Each zone uses PID + SSR control. Temperature uniformity across the entire BM5000 5200mm head: ±1.5°C.
