Trunking Extrusion Line

Jwell’s Trunking Extrusion Line is a conical twin-screw extrusion system specifically designed for PVC cable management profiles (commonly known as wiring ducts, cable trays, trunking). Whether you need to produce thin-wall trunking for residential wiring or heavy-duty slotted trunking for industrial control cabinets.

  • Application

These lines are dedicated to producing rigid PVC trunking for the following purposes:
Cable Management (Electrical) – Underfloor, wall-mounted, and suspended ceiling trunking for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Telecom & Data Cabling – Providing orderly routing for fiber optics, Cat6, and other low-voltage cables.
Industrial Control Panels – Small to medium wiring channels inside electrical cabinets.
Floor Trunking Systems – Heavy-duty profiles capable of withstanding foot traffic and wheel rolling.
Real Case
A Spanish electrical accessories manufacturer replaced their old single-screw line with our SJ55/110 extruder (22 kW main motor, 100–150 kg/h capacity). They achieved a 22% output increase and reduced profile warpage by over 30%. The line now runs three shifts, producing 20×40 mm and 30×60 mm trunking for a major smart home brand.

High Torque & Stable Plasticizing Ability
The SJZ series conical twin-screw design (51/105, 55/110, 65/132) ensures excellent PVC mixing and low-temperature plasticizing. This means:
Less degradation of heat-sensitive PVC.
Better dispersion of fillers (e.g., calcium carbonate) – saving up to 8% in raw material costs.
Smooth surface finish free of “orange peel” or flow marks.
Matched Power & Output Efficiency
SJ51 (18 kW) – For small profiles (12–25 mm width). A Turkish customer runs 80 kg/h thin-wall trunking at only 75% motor load, extending screw life by over 2 years.
SJ55 (22 kW) – Best choice for medium profiles (30–60 mm). A Polish customer reported continuous 24/7 operation for 14 months without needing to pull the screw.
SJ65 (37 kW) – For high-volume production of large trunking (up to 100×50 mm). A Brazilian factory uses two SJ65 lines feeding cut-to-length and punching units, achieving an actual output of 210 kg/h (above the rated 180–250 range).
Energy Saving
All models are equipped with AC vector drives and optimized screw geometry. Compared to traditional twin-screw lines, our SJ series consumes 12–18% less energy per kg of output – verified by a Vietnamese customer’s electricity meter records.
Fast Changeover
Quick-change tooling and vacuum calibration tank allow profile changeover within 45 minutes. A Malaysian user switches between 5 different trunking sizes daily with no scrap rate spike.

  • Process

We implement a four-stage quality control protocol before production and shipment. Every trunking extrusion line is tested in our factory using actual PVC compound.
Stage 1: Raw Material & Component Inspection
Screw and barrel hardness check (HV280–320 after nitriding).
Heater bands and thermocouples calibrated to ±1°C.
Gearbox oil cleanliness (NAS Class 9 or better).
Stage 2: In-Process Inspection
Screw-barrel clearance: SJ51 ≤0.25 mm, SJ55 ≤0.30 mm, SJ65 ≤0.35 mm.
Vacuum calibration tank holds -0.08 MPa for 30 minutes without leakage.
Haul-off belt parallelism ≤0.5 mm/m.
Stage 3: Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) – Actual Operation
We run the complete line for more than 4 hours using standard PVC dry blend. Measurements include:
Output stability – sampling every 20 minutes; weight deviation ≤3%.
Profile dimensions – laser gauge measures 10 points per meter; width and height tolerance ±0.1 mm.
Shore D hardness – ≥72 for standard trunking; tested on cooled samples.
Drop impact test – 1 kg weight dropped from 1.5 m height onto profiles conditioned at 0°C; no cracking allowed.
Stage 4: Post-Delivery Verification
We provide a detailed quality report with a video of the actual test run. After installation, our engineer supervises a 2-hour commissioning run using your local materials.
Real Case: A UK customer required a dimensional tolerance of ±0.08 mm for 40 mm wide trunking. During FAT, we fine-tuned the calibration die and haul-off speed, achieving ±0.06 mm after three adjustments. The line achieved a Cpk of 1.33 and was accepted.

  • Q&A

Q1: Can your line produce both solid and slotted trunking?
A: Yes. The same extruder and haul-off can produce solid bases and slotted covers. You only need to change the calibration die and (optionally) the punching unit. We provide slotted trunking tooling with adjustable punching timing for hole pitches from 10 mm to 100 mm.

Q2: How do I choose between SJ51, SJ55, and SJ65?
A: Based on your target output and profile size:
SJ51 (80–100 kg/h) – For profiles up to 40 mm width. Best for small workshops or low-volume custom orders.
SJ55 (100–150 kg/h) – For 40–70 mm trunking. Most popular among general electrical wholesalers.
SJ65 (180–250 kg/h) – For trunking above 70 mm or high-speed production. One SJ65 can replace two smaller lines.

Q3: How does the screw wear when using recycled PVC?
A: All SJZ screws are bimetallic coated (Nickel + Chromium + Boron) with hardness HRC 58–62. An Egyptian customer using 40% post-industrial recycled PVC measured only 0.1 mm screw diameter wear after 18 months. For heavy recycled material usage, we recommend keeping a spare screw set.

Q4: How do you ensure the line does not produce twisted profiles?
A: Twisting usually comes from uneven cooling or poor haul-off alignment. Our line includes:
4-section vacuum calibration with independent water flow control per section.
Servo-driven haul-off with digital speed synchronization to the extruder.
Real-time twist monitor (optional) – laser sensor alarms when twist exceeds 2° per meter.

Q5: What is the delivery time and warranty period?
A: Standard delivery: 35–45 days. Warranty: 24 months for mechanical parts (excluding wear parts such as screws/barrels, which have 12 months warranty). We stock common spare parts in our EU and US warehouses for 72-hour delivery.

Q6: Can you provide turnkey solutions including downstream equipment?
A: Absolutely. A complete trunking extrusion line includes:
Conical twin-screw extruder (SJ51/55/65)
Vacuum calibration tank (4 m or 6 m length)
Spray cooling tank (4 m)
Servo haul-off (caterpillar type)
In-line flying saw (with chip collector)
Optional: automatic stacking rack and punching unit
